This is a marvelous variety of color!Pentas is a genus of sixteen species of perennials (often grown as annuals), in the Madder Family (Rubiaceae), native to tropical Africa, Arabia, Madagascar and the Comoros. The name 'Pentas' refers to the five-lobed corolla, an unusual but hardly unique trait in Rubiaceae, which is known for having many species with four-lobed corollas.
The most widely grown species is the Egyptian Starflower (Pentas lanceolata), native to southern Arabia, Yemen, & tropical Africa (but not Egypt). The color range in the Lucky Star® seed cultivar series gives ample indication of the beauty of Pentas.
