I have recently seen an article on organic farming for grape vines and a good idea to make them grow well is to use compost but not sure about this can someone let mw know if this is true for things that we eat, compost really?
Of course! Compost is an excellent fertilizer and if you have room you can make your own. Cow/chicken/goat/horse etc poop is great composted but must be aged first. Very commonly used, at least here, including for edible crops.
Compost is regarded as the king of organic farming but you should make sure that the materials used to make the compost were themselves organically grown since chemical principles in most plants don't break down over time. A good alternative to compost is manure teas which can be made by fermenting plant leaves in water or mixing the latter with manure. These are easy to apply and are taken up by plants rather fast.
