Hello, I'm a complete newbie in all senses. First post in this forum, and I'm a complete beginner at vegetable growing.

My interest is growing a few vegetables in containers for personal consumption. I'm interested in growing some or all of the following: tomatoes, potatoes, leeks, carrots, onions, cabbages, cauliflowers, courgettes, beans of various types.

I live in a block of flats, with a small garden. I'm sure nobody will mind if I put a few pots up against the wall, but I can't go digging up the lawn. There is also a long waiting list for an allotment.

I live in London, England.

So, for my first question - are there any vegetables that are good for planting right about now, this time of year in my location? Recommendations, please.

:)A warm welcome to you @Ron Miel. As for your question, you might want to post it on the Vegetable forum. If my experience is any indication, London is very cold in winter. In your question to the vegetable growers (i am not one) let them know how low the temperatures are in London in winter and that will help them to provide answers and suggestions. Nice to have you here.
