Hi all,

I started my tomato plants from seeds a bit late this year. They've been going strong for over a month now but I've started to have problems in the last week. I'm using soil blocks and I have the plants in 2 in blocks right now. Some plants have branches that turned yellow and are started to fall off. Some plants have branches that are yellow and leaves are crumbling. Others have yellow leaves and spots on them. Recently, I fertilized them with a liquid fish fertilizer but I didn't see much change.

Do you think it's because of crowding or small soil block?

Has anyone experienced this or would anyone be able to help me with these problems?

Thanks again!

Dan...welcome to tomatoes! ....let me ask you a question.

this tomato plant goes from seed to lets say 6 feet tall while producing say 10 lbs of fruit. It does this over say a six month summer. all the nutrients go through the root which as the rule says looks the same underground as above ground ( ok I bar hydro intensity and fungal hyphae extensions in order to produce a point). Having said all that, and looking at your pictures in retrospect, what would you say the issue might be?

@DirtMechanic : I don't know exactly but I'll take a shot. My guess would be too small of a soil block and I need to pot them up and give them more space?

Thanks for taking a look!

Yessir you are on it. They kinda grow slow but they hit a growth spurt that will cause your issues and you are in it. It would be a good time for broad micronutrient and any root dipping you might care to do as well. Bury them deep.
