Hello,
I'm a new member here and was wondering if someone can help me identify this tree behind my apartment complex. I am located in Butte, Montana for school and would like to potentially plant this in my front yard at home in Alberta, Canada as the climates are quite similar. Also, was wondering if these were planted as a couple (two trunks)?. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you very much in advance!

Welcome to the Forums :)

Looks like a Willow. You can coppice or pollard them and they'll grow multiple stems.

I agree with the first identification. This is a Willow (Salix sp., Salicaceae). There are many similar species.
