Hello, I have hostas planted on either side of our front entrance, but one side gets much more sun so I’ve had problems keeping my hostas growing there. They get huge on the other side that gets more shade.

Is there a variety of hosta that grows better in the sun? Or, is there a plant that looks similar that I can plant on the sunnier side. I don’t mind if it doesn’t flower. Thanks!

A lot depends on your zone. But in general, no hosta 'loves' full sun. With that said I did purchase hostas with the name 'sun hosta'. They have done pretty well in full sun, and I live in zone 8a which is very hot in summer.

If you do plant hosta in full sun you must have water retentive soil. If your soil drains freely and dries out, the hosta will quick?y wilt and brown.
Why not plant something that will take sun. Your yard doesn't necessarily have to be totally symmetrical, often a bit of asymmetry provides a pop of color and interest, also some pizzaz to your garden.
