The plant shown is a white-flowered cultivar of Garden Petunia (Petunia x hybrida, possibly P. x atkinsiana) in the Nightshade Family (Solanaceae).
The hybrid nothospecies Petunia x atkinsiana refers to all crosses involving the species P. axillaris and P. integrifolia.
Many but not all cultivated Petunia are hybrids of this type.
As currently defined, the genus consists of 17 species of perennial herb, frequently cultivated as annuals, native to central and southern South America.
