Mystery Tree

Hello,

I was hoping someone could help me identify a tree in my backyard. It looks a lot like some kind of birch, but I'm having a hard time finding a perfect match.

So what is the overall habit? Three blind men were sent to identify an elephant, each given the trunk, tail and foot respectively...

The elephant? Seriously though..a perspective pic please? one that includes the overall height and width? Between that and the detail pics you have thoughtfully given, the denizens on this board should be able to nail it down.

Could be some sort of Aspen poplar or Quaking Apsen! Wild guess!

Around here, they are called Popple trees.

It's possibly Birch.

Let’s go with Paper Birch. Betula papyrifera. The bark looks wrong but the staminate flower and leaf look like a match.

@DirtMechanic here's the elephant, right on the fence. The bark is wet from some rain this morning.

Popple (also called Poplar) is an Aspen.

It could definitely be a balsam poplar!
