Good idea @jardinier great pics, it looks a nice size mature pond. Some summer pics with all your bog and marginal plants in flower would be nice. Does it contain goldfish or koi or a mixture?

Thanks for sharing your beautiful pond and information on the de-icer. The size of your pond is very impressive. I was expecting something a little smaller, but I can see that is a work of love.

This winter is really pushing us to the max to get things done right... Flowers needing protected, hens needing to be kept warm and ponds needing to be de-iced. Who'd have thought we'd all be working so hard? Looks like you're quite the handy type here though so I think this will work out great. Let us know how it does.

Jardinier, your pond looks gorgeous!:D I love it! Also, this de-icer sounds like a really great idea. If I ever have fish, I'll make something like this too. Thank you for the inspiration:)

I was just thinking of how bad I tend to feel for any animals that are left outside in the winter. We think of cats and dogs typically but it's good to know that someone cares so much about their fish to do something like this for them. I'm a real animal lover though so I guess that just sticks out to me LOL

I feel bad for them too. It must be awful to always be outside when it's so cold. On the other hand, most animals are used to it and they're doing really well. I often feed birds and I leave piles of leaves in my garden, because hedgehogs like hiding in them:)

What a great idea. I didn't realize deicers could work in temperatures which dip down to -25 Fahrenheit. That's pretty cold. I'm also glad to see you take care of your fish during the coldest days of the year.

You do have a point Claudine in that animals are used to this weather but I still feel like they shouldn't have to be. I wonder what else we do to help the animals through these cold winter months? I just found some bird bell feeders the other day that I took out and threw in the woods for them to enjoy.
