Mushrooms from a kit

This is my first year growing mushrooms, and I got some spawn. But when I saw these kits on sale I couldn't resist. Glad I bought them, they're doing great and will help me learn to do it on a bigger scale.

The one on the right got started several days ahead of the other one. These are oyster mushrooms, I am going to try porcini in the yard.

Those mushroom kits are wonderful introductions to mushroom culture. Many kits will give multiple flushes of mushrooms.
Also, there is the possibility of transferring the mycelium to fresh substrate in order to maintain the colony indefinitely for further harvest, though often other fungi (molds) will eventually take over.
