I purchased the plant in February. About 2 months later, 4 of the 5 trunks were rotted and practically fell off when I pulled them off. It's slowly growing and wilted leaves closer to the trunk. I can keep it around and continue taking care of it, but is there any possibility that I can braid trunks in the future to re-create the braid? i can purchase a money tree twice the size of this for $20, but after 8 months of nuturing this thing I want to keep it going.

(y) Welcome to the forum!! :)

I admit to being a bit confused. Do you mean to buy more plants to plant with it? Do you want to try to braid branches of it? I'm sure you won't be able to braid one trunk.

Thanks for the welcome, and for the feedback. happy to be here.

I was saying i can chaulk this tree up and purchase a more established one, but i would rather keep this and continue to grow it.

I guess I was wondering if the tree will grow healthy and continue to grow larger with 1 trunk?
Thanks for any feedback.

:) Yes, it will continue to grow with only one trunk. It might actually help it, as now it isn't competing for resources.

Do you know what killed the other four? A recurrence of that is what I'd be worried about.

Thank you for your reply. I'm going to jeep it going. ill miss out on the cool looking braided trunk as it grows but it's ok.

Not sure what killed it though. I bought it at home chepo and about 1 month later one of the trunks I could tell was a little loose. I waited a two weeks and the other trunks were falling off so i decided to easily pull off the other ones before the plant died completley.

Do you have a money tree? I have it in potting soil and its doing ok but im pretty sure i have to grab some peatmoss.
Thanks
