Is having miner's lettuce in a raised garden a good thing or bad thing. Will it overtake the other plants if left alone?

Miner's Lettuce (Claytonia perfoliata, and related species), an herb both ornamental and edible, is a wonderful asset for any garden. In Spring, these annual natives of western North America, dot and carpet half-shaded glades and thickets. Their boldly verdant, peltate leaves, alone or framing delicate bouquets of minute, white blooms, make elegant grace notes wherever they appear. If you are lucky enought have them establish in your garden, do pick some to garnish exceptional salads but let the rest go to seed for next year's display. These Spring ephemerals will not last long enough to seriously compete with other garden plants. Rather they will quietly dry and fade away as the cool days of Spring give way to Summer's searing heat.
