Has anyone successfully grown melons with only 4 hours of direct sunlight in a day? Just realized that the place where I’ll be planting some of them only gets about that much.
Melons need how much sun?

I have not. Even at 6 hours of direct sun production is marginal.

Funnily enough, I was just reading about this 10 secs ago!! Melons are the same as cucumbers in this respect. They apparently need at least 6-7 and idealy 8-10 hours.
I made a similar mistake. We have a sun trap by our front door - really hot and sunny. However, it occured to me today that the hottest spots (either side of the front door) only get 5 hours of sun. The walls of the house shade the door before 11am and after 4am.
