I have been waiting for my mango seed to sprout. I've removed the exterior seed coat and I am soaking it in water. I've been instructed that it works this way. I've seen youtube video where the seed starts to root. However, mines has opened up like a clam shell. Does anyone know if this is normal?

Hi,

Yes it's normal. The seed will open like a clamp just before the root begin to sprout down.
Make sure you change the water every third day to prevent the seed to rot. Also make sure the seed is not fully immersed in the water, you just need to soak the "fat" section of the seed, again to prevent it to rot.

Be patient, it takes time :).
