Greetings, welcome to the Forums

A Mango seedling (Mangifera indica, Anacardiaceae) may possibly survive having the radicle (primary root) broken, but only it is able stay hydrated and generate side roots. I'm not certain what you mean by the term 'dull'. A photo may explain this situation better.
Don't worry, if this seedling does not survive, it should be fairly simple for you to germinate another Mango seed.

Your Mango seems healthy, despite its injury. If you continue to give it the best care, there is a good chance it will recover.
Grow it in morning sun at first, later moving it to a full sun location. Water regularly and maintain good drainage. Fertilize with a complete fertilizer as directed.

Putting it in a pot might be a wrong choice. It needs wider space for it's new roots.
