Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask, so excuse me if it isn't.

I am looking for a plant that can grow in sand. With sand I mean sand almost like on beaches, brownish colour, I'd guess the size of the grains at about 0.2 mm. It must grow roots and, if possible, leaves within 2 months. I will not use compost. This is for an experiment, so slight changes in requirements might be possible, but not much.

Again, I'm not sure I've come to the right place, but I hope you can help me out.
Thanks in advance.

Beach grapes (coccoloba uvifera) might do. They have large fleshy leaves, produce a fruit that resembles grapes, hence the name, and grow on sand dunes. I'm not sure about it producing leaves in two months--that may depend on temperature and growing conditions.
