I have heard that there are lights that can be used in hydroponic gardening that mimic sunlight so well until you can almost grow anything you'd like indoors, and out of season. Does anyone know anything about such lighting? I'm dying to give this a try someday.

I asked at the Home Depot hardware store. The gent there said that they have them, though I did not buy any at that time.

I need to get something set up for my banana tree, which at the moment is sitting in a dark garage! We had a cold snap and I did not yet have anything set up inside for my tender plats, and so I had my son bring things in and simply stash them! So, my miniature roses are on the hearth and the banana plant is in the garage. I hope to get lights up sometime this week!
