I planted my first sun perennial garden
last year and most of the plants came back beautifully- particularly the Belgium lace. However after the profuse amount of blooms withered, I deadheaded them hoping for more blooms. It’s been almost two weeks and I can only see a couple tiny new buds. I chose this variety because of the neat shorter mounding growth pattern as opposed to the lanky Shasta Daisy…… but my neighbors Shasta Daisies appear to be blooming all summer long while mine look like healthy balls of green leaves. Any ideas on what I did wrong…. ? Maybe should’ve cut them back further as opposed to below flower and above first set of leaves?

You might have given them balanced fertilizer instead of one with low nitrogen and higher PK, which promotes flowering, Orrrr, they just aren' mature enough this year ( first in ground) to be capable of reflowering. Be patient, there's always next year.

Ok thanks, the videos I watched on deadheading just showed removal of the spent flower at the next set of leaves. Next time I’ll cut it back to the base
