Lemon tree

I bought this 4 months ago and it lost all its leaves due to overwateeing as I didn't know better. It has recently started to sprout two new branches with leaves which is great but they have started to droop curl and some of the leaves feel soft others are crisp and hard brittle. I checked with my meter and says the middle part of the pit is wet+ but other areas are dry. Any ideas or is this normal behaviour.

On another note I have pruned back the dead branches however no real growth is happening any ideas

I have never grown a lemon tree, but I keep seeing them mentioned, so I put 'lemon tree' in the search (top right) and there are seven pages of threads with that in the title, reckon it might be worth your while reading through some of them.
