It boggles my mind how people built these huge beautiful structures centuries ago. With no lasers, cranes or power tools they came up with masterpieces. Absolutely amazing!
They had cranes, powered by people in a treadmill. They used water as a level. The floor of Salisbury cathedral is only 2 inches out over the whole area
There would have been a wooden scaffold either side of the walls as they were being built, tied together thru the wall by putlogs that were removed as the scaffold came down and the holes filled.
