Just appeared and getting taller and taller.....?

Cor @DeborahJane you`ll have to keep an eye on that - to be in the Guiness world record book it needs to be taller than 30ft 1 inch - that one was grown in Germany in 2014.

Goodness. It must have just self seeded somehow. Birds flying over I guess. It is in my pink and purple garden!!!

Is it another nightshade?

Nightshade is a thin vine that rambles and climbs. It has small yellow and purple flowers and red berries and it is very poisonous. Nothing like what you have. I agree it looks like Sunflower.

It doesn't look like a sunflower to me. But it doesn't look like anything I know, either.

Thank you for reminding me DirtMechanic. I went out and had a close look and Lo and Behold ....purple trumpet flowers. Sent a pic to my friend who remembered it as we purchased one each at the same time. It's an Iochroma, Blue Angel Trumpet. It has grown strangely, lanky and flopping over so I'll have to do some homework as how to help it look its' best.
