Hello,

I recently bought 4 jasmine plants of two different varieties. Both plants are recovering from a nasty bug infection: One of the varieties is doing really well and the other (pictured) does not seem as healthy.

Is this normal for mid-summer jasmine, or is it dying? Any advice on how to save it and prevent it from dying? Thanks in advance!

From what I can see, looks like you have spider mites. I would spray them off with the hose and cut it back. Cut off the old flower stems and yellowed leaves then give it a good soak with some fish emulsion sprayed onto the leaves and soil. The fish emulsion will be absorbed by the leaves and help green up the plant.

Don't be afraid to cut it back, jasmine grows three feet in a year, it'll be back bigger and stronger before winter. We got hit with a hurricane last November and my jasmine trellis got blown down. I cut 9 feet off that plant. It was only 2 and 1/2 foot tall after cutting it back. It's now 7' tall.
