I am clearing space in my backyard for a big veggie gaden, and I discovered today that we have a monster infestation of English Ivy. I need to get rid of it, obviously, but how do I go about it without resorting to chemicals that may or may not work and will most certainly seep into the ground where I want to plant my veggies?

English Ivy is tough to eliminate without chemicals. Having said that there is a fool proof and safe way to chemically remove it without leaving a lot of dangerous chemicals in your soil. GreenLight makes a product called Vine and Stump remover. You find where the main stems and/or trunks are of the ivy and cut it off at ground level. Apply a few drops of the product onto the cut end and it will effectively kill the entire plant that is growing from that part of the plant. Ivy sometimes has many shoots that are rooted in the soil. It isn't easy but it is effective and fairly safe because very little of the product is actually incorporated into the soil. A two ounce bottle of this stuff goes a long ways.

Where do you find GreenLight? Is it something you can get at Home Depot or a garden store or do you have to order it?
I don't know where you live but just about any garden center sells GreenLight products. Or you can get it online
