Greetings everyone!

Decided to grow mango tree from seed in March 2024, and for 10 months everything was great. New healthy leaves appeared, and plant was growing well. Since Jan 2025, I've noticed that the tip of one of the first leaves turned black. Time went by, and more tips of older leaves turned black, but new leaves still appear, and the tree keeps growing. Also, some of the leaves (old and new) and the stem itself started to have some weird small black dots/spots.
Can't figure out the reason... Tried to adjust watering/humidity/temperature, used fertilizer, applied 3% hydrogen peroxide with water to kill possible fungus - no changes.

Current conditions:
  • Sits in 10 inch / 1.5 gallon pot with good drainage;
  • Watering - 1 time per week, ~240-250ml
  • Watering is either bottom watering, or top watering (previously, for several months, used bottom one to get rid of gnats)
  • Humidity is ~60-65%
  • Temperature is ~24-25°C
  • Indirect sunlight + additional plant light 30 cm above the pot

Would appreciate any suggestion or advice on what can be done to save the plant!

PS. I have another mango, planted at the same time, but in a 8 inch pot with ~120-130ml watering once per week, and the tree has no issues at all.

Your plant looks good; you've done a great job growing it for 10 months. Very gently tip the plant out of the container and get a good look at the roots. Smell the roots and if it smells bad you may have been too wet for a while. Or the roots are getting compacted and ran out of room in the container. I would up-pot into a slightly larger container with fresh potting mix. Not too big, because a large pot will hold too much water and drown the plant. Keep the new pot close to the old one or use just use the old one you have. Keep us posted.

Hi oneeye, thank you for the reply. A bit scared of repotting and damaging the roots as the tree is just 1 year old, and a pot looks pretty big compared to the plant itself, but will do my best...

Just replace some of the soil and use the same pot since you say its too big for up-pot.
