My hubby thought he would surprise me and buy me a few rose bushes. Double knock out rose.
The leaves seem a little sickly? Before the rain some leaves also seemed to have a white coating on them.
Should these be treated with something? Of so what do you suggest?
Thanks in advance

Sounds like it might be powdery mildew. Are there any black spots or yellow leaves? How much of the plant is affected?

Almost 1/2 the plant is affected, there are a few yellow leaves at the bottom and this morning I found this weird green slime.

Also found these holes onmy rose on a different rose bush :(

Yep, BIG problem. First, it is as @Becky said, powdery mildew. Also you have blackspot fungus. The caterpillar very well could be sawfly. Tear open that bud with the hole in it and see what is inside as it will probably give you a positive answer. Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) is the best product for caterpillars of any kind. As for the fungus and mildew use a copper based fungicide

Thanks Chuck.

Well not exactly. A sawfly female lays its eggs and the eggs hatch out in to caterpillar which turns into a sawfly. And I am not completely sure about that being a sawfly larvae/caterpillar. A female sawfly has what is called an ovapoisiter which she uses like a saw to cut into a plant and deposit her eggs. And the hole in that bud doesn't look like a sawfly incision to me

Thank you so much - I'll be heading back to the cottage Friday and hope my plants are still standing :)
