Hi Everyone,

First of all i would like to thank the team managing the forum and the community .

By way of introduction I am 34 and I am Algerian. I have been living away for a while and just got back home, where I found that our garden was a real mess (falling trees, water leaking and muddy soil, bad smell etc.). So I decided to take care of it; however, I have no knowledge on gardening and that is the reason i joined the community to benefit from others experiences and expertise.

It has been now a month I started re-working my garden and i have some good news. My father got rid of the 2 falling trees (became way to dangerous for our neighbors to try and keep them), water leaking has been repaired, no more muddy soil and no more bad smell.

My questions will be mainly about what type of plants i have (yes no idea what type of plants i have), soil maintenance and type.

Well that's it for now, I will be posting my question and pictures shortly on another post.

See you soon.

Cheers.
Mike

you can find below the google map for a precise info. It is in Algeria, North Africa with typical Mediterranean weather (5Km from the Sea)

Also, below you can find picture of my soil, it is always dry at the top but first layer below it is muddy and always humid.

I took a few samples, you can see below the two samples come from the same garden. But there is one (on the left) which is more dry than the right one (right one seems to be perfect, everything grows on it with no effort)

Please note that i am not able to upload picture so I added the links instead.

Thank you

Mike your pictures are not available and I found this link. Its pretty detailed but not specific and I cannot say much yet except there seem to be salinity and sodicity issues generally in the area. This may not apply to you. It would be great to see the pictures.

This is searchable but I am defeated by language;

Hi DirtMechanic,
I have downloaded the Atlas document which i am currently reviewing. I have also taken few pictures with closer view of the top layers (always dry) and first layer below it(which seems to be always humid).

I have also another part of my garden which seems to be different to all others (picture Soil 3).

note that all this pictures are from same garden, few feets away from each others.

Hope that helps and i will comeback to you once i review the Atlas document and understand it.
Thank you
M
