indoor Ivy rooting advice?

I have a piece of an ivy sitting in a mason jar filled with water on my window. Has anyone had success rooting an ivy this way? Its been up there for a few weeks now and I'm not seeing much a root. The leaves are still green, but are darkening up in some areas. Is there anything else I can do? Any better ideas?
