We have several trees in our garden that result in a whole lot of dried leaves spreading around. Besides adding them to the compost pits we also burn them in an incinerator. The ash thus produced is used as fertilizer. The smoke drives away the mosquitoes. Although smoke per se is considered a pollutant, smoke emanating from dried leaves is safe unless one inhales it. This incinerator sends the smoke high up.

We used to burn tree leaves in the fall when I was akid. It is now banned here. I do so miss the smell of maple and oak leaves burning.

I have a wood burning fireplace that I use occasionally in the winter. Love the smell.

Too bad it and coal burning are such terrible pollutants.
I too throw the ashes in the garden.

This banning should be selective but I suppose keeping a tab on who burns what is a difficult process.

Awesome! I see how that incinerator serves several purposes at once (y) I liked the design, very smart! I was actually wondering how you guys could deal with all those mosquitoes that are surely living in your garden! Because your place sure looks like a jungle (a very nice one!), so that must attract all sorts of bugs.

Mosquitoes are normally seen during the night and we are not out there at that time. . At home we have our fans on and we have those repellents all over the place. Our home is quite comfy that way.

If I did that, I might burn down the whole county. Outside firepits are ok if used carefully. Burning leaves that can float away? That would get you in trouble real fast.

Because the leaves should not fly around they are put in an incinerator. Burning leaves in the open is dangerous.

It looks great!
We often have bonfires in the fall and burn tree leaves and dry branches. I love the fire!:)
