I had germinate spaghetti squash seed i was so proud and happy that the roots came out. So I planted them. All was going good. Plants grew but I seen they needed sun. So I was happy past few days we had. Nice hot warm sunny weather here in Montreal. So I took out all he tiny guys because I can see they needed sun. The next day I went to check on my plants and guess what???? Unexpected snow had fall. All my plant dead!! brought the in to see any survivors.. None

So sad, but it happens to every gardener sooner or later. Plant more--squash germinates and grows quickly. A gardener's motto is "Never give up, and there's always next time!.

Sorry from me too! I had a big bushy beautiful Scotch Bonnet plant for several years (it was actually my Christmas tree one year) and then inadvertently left it outside and the frost killed it. :(

You're early enough in the year to start more though. I put in several varieties of squash seedlings in mid or late June last year and had a decent harvest. I think we have similar weather.

I'm in Montreal we got snow, rain etc!! Today it's sunny but a bit cold. I heard more snow will come.

Hello, ilovemygarden1, Sorry about your loss of your seedlings. It is way too early to be setting seedlings out. I am your neighbour in NB and I have just planted my peppers and tomato seeds. They need about 8 weeks to grow before setting out in the garden. They should be big enough around the second week of June. It is way too cool before that. If I were you I would not start squash for no sooner than 4 weeks before setting out in garden. Spaghetti squash is a summer squash and they grow rather quickly. I won't start my winter squash until mid May as I don't want them to be too big to set in the garden. Start your sets in the house in a south facing window if you have one. If not just pick the sunniest place you have and after they have grown just gradually get them used to the outside temps. Good luck! (y)

So sorry for your loss. I would like to encourage you to try again and get the plants in when the sun has set each day to avoid unexpected rain or snow.
