Ideas for my planter box!?

New to this forum. Hello everyone . I live in South Florida wanted some suggestions for my planter box. Also the dirt that's in there already is a year old do I need to change it?

Yes I would use the soil around the yard. Tricolor Ginger is kinda cool. It needs something long too, that drapes and trails off the sides potato vine style. And something with a little height like a baby dinosaur kale that you could nursery there and plant out later.

when traveling in Oregon, in the sweet quaint town, many stores had planter boxes on their windows. noticed something neat. in the planter boxes the actual plant was in its own pot, not directly planted in dirt in the box. to me, that's a quick way to change the arrangement should one plant fail. easy.
