I have voles !

Voles have ate the roots off three of my favorite rose bushes. They eat all the roots right up to the root ball. It looks like they would consume the whole plant if they could bring it underground.
How do I get rid of them and also moles?

Voles eat rose roots but moles do not. To get rid of voles you can try some of the methods AI suggusts below.

• Use varmint controls like Ramik or Rozel
  
  
• Bait a mousetrap with a chunk of apple
  
  
• Mix Vole Bloc in the soil
  
  
• Pull the mulch about 4 or 5 inches away from the base of your roses
  
  
• Make a “fence” out of hardware cloth and wrap it around the base of woody plants

Thanks Oneeye, for your rapid response. I will see if I can find these remedies, It is so disheartening to see my beautiful rose bushes laid over and the roots gone right up to the plant ball. Thanks again. Setting traps won't work for me. My pit bull digs everything up if it has a scent. Hunts like a hound!

With all respect to AI, they fail to mention outside dogs. We never have moles or vols and I attribute that to outside dogs.

If one shows up, the dogs get 'em immediately. Somehow, they can hear them in the soil and its fun to watch them pounce on the mole and "remove" it.

Mine digs up the tunnel for twenty yards and absolutely devastates my yard , worse than the moles do. I'll have to replant this season with screens around and under each bed to prevent VOLES.. I'll leave the moles to the dog.
