How to replace this tree?

We woke this morning to find a laburnum at the front of our house had fallen overnight.

This has left a lot of ugly fence exposed on one side and some dead conifer (with road behind it) on the other.

We would like to plant something that grows quickly and will be both tall and bushy enough to fill the gap. Unfortunately, there isn't much light in this corner due to overhanging trees from next door.

Any ideas?

What a shame - I daresay you were gutted to lose such a lovely big tree :(
I really think you would achieve better planting if you were to make your borders a bit wider, and don`t really think there`s enough space there to try and plant another tree. Maybe a climber or two would do the job better. How about a rambling rose with a clematis, and maybe a honeysuckle to go with them too - they would soon cover the fence up.
