Hi all.

I have grown a few things over the years, Peppers, Carrots, flowers.
I finally have a garden big enough to create a mini allotment!
Few pics attached of previous few peppers plants I grew a few years ago.

Currently started growing again by sticking two tomato seeds in a bag of soil.
They grew!
Moved them into where I want to dig out my new growing patch.
Best sun in whole garden.

Hello Joe, welcome to the forums :)
There is no better pastime than gardening, it's good to get your hands dirty :giggle: I think the first thing to do is get the digging fork out and start preparing a patch of ground by clearing the grass and weeds out, and maybe adding some manure to dig in. One way of doing this would be to grow a green manure crop. A good one to start with would be yellow mustard, you can eat the leaves, let it grow on over winter and dig it all in in the spring. Then you will have a good place to start on.
In the spring I think you could start off with a few salad bits like spring onions, lettuce beetroot and radishes - just sow a few and save the rest for ron - lateron that is. If you wanted to plant something for now, spinach beet could go in and/or purple sprouting broccoli.
Have fun, and let us know what you decide (y)

Thanks for the reply!

That's a good idea with the yellow mustard, didnt know there was "green manure"
I was planning on prepping the soil and feeding it over the course of the next 6 months ready for next year!
I have started a thread on my project
