i have moved into a ground floor flat that faces NE at the front and SW at the back. there are some pots and troughs at the front, and space for some at the back. i have no actual land space. i also have a reasonably sized windowless shed at the back.

i have inherited a beautiful Fuchsia bush with really fat flowers, a lovely orange Crocosmia, and a very bright yellow Loosestrife. the Fuchsia is in a big tub, the others are directly in the ground. i also have a Pieris in a tub. what i'd like to do is plant wildflowers and other flowers to attract pollinators, and herbs for me. maybe later on some veg, like potatoes and tomatoes. i want everything to be organic. i have a little knowledge with massive gaps in it, but am eager to learn.

i also have a few house plants. there are four cuttings from the last of my late mother's Hoya bella plants, which are doing well. there are three Angel Wing Begonias, various Spider plants, both variegated and non-variegated, and three Money trees.

thanks for reading. hopefully i'll have some good questions, and maybe eventually, some good answers!

Seems a bit contradictory, but whatever it sounds as though you are pretty restricted, worth being careful to grow things you really want and learning to say 'Thankyou, but no' to offers of plants. Tomatoes are well worth growing, and do well in containers. I always grow a few new potatoes for the taste, so different from shop bought, I did quite well this year with them in plastic bags I had bought compost in, with cut grass in the bottom to keep it damp, they like that. If you are putting them in containers remember the tops like a fair bit of sun, but the roots like it cool and damp, so remember to shade the container and keep it watered.
There is an awful lot of information here if you care to read through. It is worth asking if you have a specific question, but it is also worth having a regular scroll through 'New Posts', it is surprising how often some things come up, or maybe not, we tend to want similar things,
Anyway, welcome to the forum, and I hope to see you around.

what i mean is there is a little bit of space which is taken up by the Crocosmia and the Loosestrife. everything else is or will be in pots or troughs, including the Fuchsia. sorry, i can see how that was confusing.

i've been thinking about potatoes, and tomatoes. i've got so much to learn, what to plant when, and where, etc. thanks for the info.

thank you very much. there has been a little gap, due to non-gardening things happening in my world, but i should be more on top of things now. i know, famous last words!
