Hey everyone... I'm a young man from, and still in, Massachusetts, USA. I helped my mother create a garden with a mix of local/ well-known things like tomatoes, eggplant, corn, and sunflowers, to "Thai basil" and some East Asian shrub whose leaves we cook and eat and other non-local food plants. The sweet potato leaves sauteed with Taiwanese sacha (bbq) sauce was amazing... She was the brains/know-how behind the operation, I was the muscle, but I got familiar with some of the plants.
The fact we were able to feed half of the fam's weekly veggie intake with the small garden's produce was pretty inspiring to me, and has gotten me interested. I'm mostly a DIY kind of guy, so gardening definitely appeals to me... and not just gardening for food, but growing utility plants, beekeeping, etc.etc.
