Hi guys!

I started some herb seeds last weekend in my propergator.

7 days later they have shot up, I'm wondering when is best to take them out of propagation and am I meant to divide them or just leave them to it?

Pictures are cress, rocket and dill.

I would wait until they had at least one set of true leaves before dividing. I would also give them much more light as they are starting to get leggy.

Hi Chuck!

Ah OK. I will leave the lids off then and let them see the sunlight! Thank you

Congratulations on successfully starting your herb seeds! It's great to hear that they have germinated and are growing well.

In general, you can remove your seedlings from the propagator once they have developed their first set of true leaves. These are the leaves that come after the initial cotyledon leaves, which look different and are present on all seedlings. The true leaves will look more like the leaves of the adult plant and are a sign that your seedlings are ready to be transplanted.

When you do transplant your seedlings, you may want to consider dividing them if they are growing too close together. This will give each seedling more space and resources to grow. To divide the seedlings, carefully separate them from each other, being sure not to damage their delicate roots. You can then transplant each seedling into its own pot or into your garden bed.

Alternatively, you can leave your seedlings to grow together if they have enough space to do so. Just be sure to monitor them closely and adjust their growing conditions (such as watering and fertilizing) as needed to promote healthy growth.
