Hemerocallis

Im in UK...ive had a yellow Hemerocallis for at least 6 or 7 years or so .and it always had big leaves and big flowers.. But i read that you are supposed to split them every few years. So early this year i split it into 2. It was originally about 3 ft high with the flower stalks and about 4 ft across . It was in a sunny spot and ive split it and put both bits in a sunny spot. They have started to produce flower stems but they just look a bit rubbish...leaves are bit pale green or bit yellow..and they not as good looking as when it was one plant. Should i move them or feed them or what

I would try feeding them with tomato food which is gentler than other foods.
