Hi! I'm Lydia. Re/starting my relationship to gardening for the first real time since childhood, and really excited to do so! I'm growing indoors in containers this time, in zone 5b with some west windows and very variable amounts of light depending on the season. Planning to get a few grow lights for the dimmer months, and start this year with a few herbs and vegetables. Here to learn and research and share (especially since my current setup is very different from anything I've done before). I already have a pretty happy pot of Ivy which seems to do well in the low light, and I'm about to add some mint and go from there. I also live with a cat creature who (so far) ignores plants and is the best most perfect roommate.

Welcome to the forum
The ivy will do fine on low light levels, but sunlight won't be hitting west facing windows until the middle of the day. You might consider giving veg. and herbs a bit of extra light during the mornings, not just the dull months. Wishing you success and interested to hear how it goes.
