My name is Eva, I live in the Southeastern United States, and I am gearing up to plant my first big vegetable garden this summer. I'm excited and daunted at the same time, because I'm having to do some major clean-up in the space where my garden is going to go, and I figured out today that I have a major infestation of English Ivy. I've been more-or-less successfully container gardening for the last couple of years, but I am unemployed and really feel that I could stretch my food budget exponentially if I could grow and preserve more of my own food. I have two very enthusiastic, veggie-scarfing "junior assistants", my 6 year-old son and my 8 year-old daughter.
