I was reading an article about growing chia last night, to harvest the seed. Since purchasing chia seeds at the health food store is so expensive, I'd like to give this a try. Has anyone grown chia for seed? Do you have any tips?
I have tried growing them on those chip plant planters before and all the seeds did was rought. If you are going to plant them, I recommend doing it in soil.
Hah! Thanks, Rosyrain. The chia I'm wanting to grow is what happens when you take those tiny seeds, and plant them in soil. The plants get as tall as a person. They put out long stalks of flowers, followed by the tiny seeds. I use those seeds in cooking, but they're horrifically expensive. Maybe because they're hard to grow? I'm hoping someone here has tried, and can let me know.
