You are correct! They are also know as sea asparagus, sea beans, or pickleweed. I picked some of these earlier this year and had them as a side dish. Very good- tastes like baby asparagus! Make sure to only select the tender "branches"

Here's another one! This tender, juicy veggie grows wild in fairly moist dirt, partly sunny areas, and grassy areas. Good in salads!

I don't have another picture of that one handy, but here's a different veggie with a similar name!
Try this one! Good in salads too!

The last pic I posted is Siberian Miners Lettuce and the one pictured in the metal bowl is just Miners Lettuce. Both wonderful to use whenever you would typically use lettuce!

You are right about the artichoke part! Woo hoo! I think Jerusalem artichokes have yellow flowers, but I'm not totally sure!

Artichoke :D

Jerusalem one is different Logan, that has yellow flowers and I think is related to Sunflowers, hence "Girasole" - being corrupted to Jerusalem.

I went to Jerusalem in 1970, didn't see either sort of Artichoke but I did get shot at by the P.L.O.
