I recently finished growing romaine lettuce in containers, starting from seed—and the results were even better than expected. The plants grew strong, and the “cut and come again” method worked like a charm. One week after the first harvest, the leaves had already bounced back for another round.

We documented the entire process and created a detailed video guide for anyone interested in growing their own:

I grow Romaine lettuce in containers successfully but without all the work and effort of transplanting...just direct seed in the container.

I find no need to set the plants back transplanting them into a container which can be moved for protection. Why do you advocate that step?

Direct seeding works for me. Little Gem Romaine...

This might be something for us to try. Normally our lettuce bolts quickly.

Might be worthwhile so we can move the plants into the garage during hot spells.
