I'm an American living in Ukraine and have just bought an acre of land to keep me busy. I grew up on a commercial farm before I joined the Army and I'm looking forward to getting my hands dirty again. I'm known as the crazy American in my village because how how I garden. The locals at the end of the season will bring in a load or two of manure, spread it on top of the garden for the winter and plow it under come spring. I grow and plant in to cover crops, mainly buckwheat, clover and winter rye. They just can't understand why my harvests are so much larger than theirs.
