Hello all. I have a small (4 ft x 12 ft) flower bed outside my apartment in Bristol county, Massachusetts. I enjoy gardening with perennials in this little space.
I am autistic. I am middle aged, have no children, but am grateful to share my life with my working dog and a mellow cat. As i am challenged with awareness and executive function, I must work hard to take the needed steps to tend my garden. On the positive side, amplified sensory sensitivities enhance how I get to know each plant. I listen to the sense I get from each plant about where and how they might most like to be situated. I am happy getting to know each new plant. My flower bed is right outside my living room windows.
Hobbies are t'ai chi, Zen sitting meditation, reiki, swimming at the YMCA, and enjoying the woods and nature with my dog, Grimm. I belong to a Buddhist sangha. I live independently with some supports. For easy outings, I manage myself, but have support staff for when I have challenging situations in the community. I rely on an AAC device to communicate when my speech shuts off or in complex situations.
Thank you for welcoming me. I hope to learn what I can to benefit the plants in my care.
