Can I use grass clipping as mulch? Any downsides to it? Thanks
It is great to use as a mulch, just don't put it on very thick. If more than about 1/2 inch or so thick it can stay a little too wet and it might cause mildew to form on your plants. But if you live where it is hot and/or dry apply it thicker.

I actually just did this not 3 days ago. Just like chuck said, spreading thin is key. Keeps it from not rotting/smelling (I made grass fertilizer last year and after nearly throwing up from the smell, decided I would rather just buy my fertilizer).

I used it around my pumpkins as it helps prevent water runoff and gives some slow releasing nitrogen.

One other drawback is my dogs are very curious about it so I have been seeing paw marks/digs every morning.
