now the california ribes gooseberry fuschia looks like something to try .it has a large root grows to 8 ft ,the blossoms are like fuchsias,which has very large gooseberry fruits ,now can you imagine crossing this black current red current .having a standard current by grafting

Yes, the Californian, Fuchsia-flowered Gooseberry (Ribes speciosum) is a wonderful flowering shrub, with its Spring display of red, pendant blooms so well-adapted for hummingbird pollination. Did you ever attempt any of the crosses or grafts that you discussed?
