I trained in biological sciences at the university but didn't specialize in any area in particular. I have always thought of becoming an expert in plant identification which also arms one with knowledge on their uses and importance. Are there free online resources in this area with a bias towards tropical plants?

I haven't found any satisfactory sites for tropical plant identification online and i have looked. The best site so far is unfortunately in Spanish www.naturalista.mx.

I haven't found any online garden forums that responded much (if at all) to requests for tropical plants ids with a photo.
There used to be an English version of naturalista.mx, but now i cannot find a link.
