In my plant propagation class, we experimented with grafting one variety of tomato onto another variety. All tomato plants provided for this experiment were short so it wasn't possible to have both varieties of fruit together </3 Think of this as a disease-resistant rootstock graft experiment.
The materials I used were a large plastic straw, first aid tape, vaseline, razor blade, and scissors

First picture is from when I started the graft on March 17.

My question is how long do I leave this plastic straw on? I heard that the split could still separate even if there's signs of new growth.
I'm not sure if the straw is damaging the plant.
Also, I repotted it into a larger pot after I took that 3rd photo.
