I bought bag of frozen peas and cannot find here the peas were harvested. All the label states is prepared for Walmart.

I want to know where the peas were harvested, since I do not want food processed or grown in China.

My complaint: This is applicable to most supermarket food today. Time for some truth in the labels and proper information.

Everything I buy, I have to look at the label, from clothing, household things, to human food, to pet food; and I avoid them at all cost. I just don't trust it! From what I have read and learned, avoid food from China is on my top list!

If the front label says pictsweet on it, then the peas come from a multitude of places in the US, from Tennessee to California. Pictsweet strictly deals in frozen veggies. It is then distributed by Homefoods inc.

I know the feeling, just not so long ago I got something from the Aldi, to my dismay it was from china... one would think that a German store wouldn't sell that kind of stuff! But yeah, they do, so careful when shopping there guys! That will teach me to be more careful with the labels... worst part is that most of the time they're not so clear either... a lot of them don't list all the ingredients.

I am weary too when the package does not tell you where the fruit or veggies came from. If it is a store brand, like your package, I guess you can contact the store headquarters and start asking some questions. If they want your business in the future and I am someone will tell you where the produce was picked.

Watch out for packages which state "prepared for", "packed by" or "imported by". These usually means the food is grown and shipped in a foreign country, even though it may say, "packed in the USA."

I went through the same thing. Our traditional Christmas ham was Smithfield, then their company was sold to a Chinese conglomerate. I searched until I found the Appleton brand at Aldi's, which is grown, processed, packaged, and sold in the US. I tried to find Sugardale, but couldn't in this area. I won't buy "pangasus" fish because it is catfish from who knows where; tilapia is usually imported from ??? country; and there are so many products without any identification as to country of origin.
Makes me glad I have a big vegetable garden and fish in the pond!

Processed food is really bad about using out of country foods and out of season fresh fruits is another thing to look out for as well. I tend to stay far away from Walmart because they're more than happy to source food from China and generally are sold the worst crop by local farmers because of their bullying.

Many farmers have admitted over the years that their best crops are sold to Kroger, Costco, and other grocery chains. Hence why said other stores have better fruit than Walmart with the exception of big name brands such as Cuties/Halos, ect. The worst such as C grade is left to Walmart because the company has a history of letting Grade A fruits/veggies sit and rot for months in order to lower the buying price, meaning the farmer takes a huge financial loss. In order to augment that lower grade food, Walmart orders from out of country so that they can compete with 'fresher' selections.
