I am moving in a few weeks and I want to decorate my new place with plants that have flowers. I love Orchids but mine don't last more then a few months. Does anyone have any recommendations for pretty plants that have flowers on them? Something clean cut like an Orchid maybe? I have poinsettias but I am looking for something to grow in the spring.

The African Violet has flowers but I have not had much luck growing them more than a few months. I go for color more than flowers to give some interest to the decor. I like to grow red coleus during the summer and bring them inside during the winter, lots of color with the coleus plants.

I know your are looking for plants with flowers but I think Persian Shields look amazing even without flowers. Maybe some persian shields with a couple peace lillys in the middle of the pot. You would have the purple foilage of the shields along the bottom and the glossy green leaves of the peace lillys floating above them topped off with the peace lilly flower...I dunno, just a thought.

I assume that you are talking indoor plants. You can always plant bulbs like tulips and daffodils or any of the other outdoor flowers. If you were to do that you would have to start now and put the bulbs in the refrigerator.

Persian Shield can be grown indoors as easily as outdoors. It's one of those plants that is happy anywhere ;)
